Reflective signs printed to the AS 1743 designs on AS/NZS 1906 reflective sheeting at our Ravenhall workshop — roadwork signage, traffic control signs, reflective site signs and reflective stickers, for TMPs, yards, events and private roads.
Traffic and roadwork signage is printed on retroreflective sheeting — material engineered to bounce headlight beams straight back at the driver — applied to a rigid panel. The designs, colours and sizes come from AS 1743; the sheeting grades come from AS/NZS 1906. We print both the standard catalogue and the custom signs private sites need, in the same building as everything else we make.
Made by Melbourne Trade Signs, a large-format print and signage company on Unit 6/43 Orbis Drive, Ravenhall VIC 3023, in Melbourne’s west. Printed in-house and installed Australia-wide. Phone 0415 743 691.
One boundary drawn honestly up front: we are the printer, not the traffic engineer. Signs for public roads get deployed under a traffic management plan approved through the road authority, and that compliance chain belongs to the traffic management company or principal contractor. What we own is the specification side — the right design, the right size, the right sheeting class, printed clean and delivered when the program needs it. Give us the designations off your TMP and that is exactly what arrives.
Off the public road it gets simpler. Warehouse yards, site entries, car parks and private roads can carry whatever the site needs — and this is where most of our reflective work goes, alongside the construction site signage and AS 1319 safety signs that ship in the same order.
Five families cover almost every reflective job a builder, traffic crew or facility manager sends us.
The temporary works catalogue — roadwork ahead, workers, lane status, detours and speed advisories — printed to the AS 1743 designs and sizes your traffic management plan names.
Stop, give way, speed limits, no entry, one way and turn controls for site access points, internal roads and event routes. Standard shapes so drivers obey on sight.
Corflute-based reflective signage for event parking and road closures — sized to the standards, priced for a weekend’s service, and part of our event wayfinding kits.
Custom reflective signage for warehouses, depots and private roads: yard speed limits, forklift zones, height clearances, gate identification and after-dark site entries.
Die-cut reflective stickers and markings for trucks, trailers, plant, bollards and gates — the sticker range on the custom stickers page, on material that returns headlights.
Reflective bay, visitor and accessible parking signage lives on our dedicated parking signs page — same materials, car-park-shaped problems.
AS/NZS 1906.1 grades sheeting by how much light it returns. The class you need follows from where the sign works and what, if anything, your specification calls up.
| Grade | Where it belongs | Typical uses | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 1 | Read from moving traffic | Roadwork and traffic signs, TMP kits, road-facing site entries | High-intensity return that survives approach speed and distance |
| Class 2 | Low-speed environments | Car parks, yards, internal roads, gate and bay signage | Engineering grade — plenty of night visibility at walking-to-crawling speeds |
| Non-reflective | Daylight-only messaging | Most AS 1319 safety signs indoors and on hoarding | Reflectivity costs money it does not need to spend indoors |
If your specification names a designation, size or class, send it through as written — that removes every guess from the job.
TMP sign kits at project start, site entry and gate signage that reads after dark, and replacement panels through the life of the job. Usually ordered together with the site signage package — boards, safety signs and hoarding in one delivery, one invoice.
Stock and project-specific signs printed to designation, on the substrate the crews prefer. Repeat specs stay on file, so a reorder is a phone call, not a re-brief.
Yard speed limits, pedestrian exclusion and forklift zones, height bars, dock numbers and gate IDs. Private property means the wording can say precisely what your traffic flow needs — we keep the familiar shapes so compliance is instinctive.
Road closure and parking signage for festivals, markets and sporting events, mostly on corflute, mostly needed fast, and often printed same day when the council paperwork lands late.
Quotes come back within two business hours. Pickup from Ravenhall, delivery metro and regional Victoria, freight interstate — and our own crews install where the job calls for it.
We print traffic and roadwork signs to the AS 1743 standard designs, sizes and colours on AS/NZS 1906 retroreflective sheeting — the specification side.
Whether a sign may be deployed on a particular road is governed by the traffic management plan and the relevant road authority, which is the traffic management company’s or principal contractor’s domain, not the printer’s. Tell us the sign designation and size from your TMP or SWMS and we will produce to it.
AS/NZS 1906.1 grades retroreflective sheeting by how much light it returns to the driver. Class 1 is the high-intensity grade specified for road signage and anything read from a moving vehicle at speed; Class 2 is the engineering grade that suits car parks, site entries and private roads where approach speeds are low.
If a specification or TMP names the class, we match it; if not, we will recommend based on where the sign works.
Reflective sheeting is applied to a rigid substrate and printed. Metal and aluminium composite panel suit permanent and semi-permanent signs, and are the usual call for anything mounted to posts or fences.
Corflute versions cover short-term, low-cost uses like event traffic management, where the sign works for a weekend and is not worth a metal panel. We will match the substrate to how long and where the sign serves.
Yes, and it is a big part of this work: speed limits for warehouse yards, give way and stop signs for internal roads, pedestrian and forklift zone signage, height clearance boards and site-specific instructions.
On private property you are not bound to the public-road catalogue, so wording can say exactly what your site needs — though keeping to the familiar shapes and colours means drivers obey without reading twice.
Printed and cut on the same reflective materials as the signs: chevrons and outline markings for trucks, trailers and plant, asset and gate numbers that must read at night, bollard and barrier banding, and safety markings on equipment.
We die-cut them to shape like any other sticker — the difference is the material underneath returns headlights.
Printed reflective work runs through the same in-house queue as everything else, so turnaround is ours to control — tell us when the signs are needed on site and we will give you a straight answer.
Corflute-based traffic signage for events is among the faster jobs; metal and ACM panels carry a little more finishing time.
OHS and WHS signage printed in the AS 1319 classes and colours — the other half of every site compliance order.
