Display stands, counters, plinths, giant products and 3D logos in printed paper-based board. Printed direct and cut in our own workshop, light enough to carry in one hand, and designed to go into paper recycling when the activation is over.
Honeycomb board and Re-board are rigid, paper-based display boards: printable faces either side of a paper core. They are far lighter than timber or plastic, strong for their weight, and cut cleanly into slots and tabs, so a printed sheet becomes a counter, a plinth or a two-metre product replica that slots together on site.
We print them direct on our UV flatbed and cut them on our flatbed cutter in Ravenhall, for brand activations, retail displays and events.
Made by Melbourne Trade Signs, a large-format print and signage company at Unit 6/43 Orbis Drive, Ravenhall VIC 3023, in Melbourne’s west. Printed in-house and installed Australia-wide. Phone 0415 743 691, Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm.
For short-run work, paper-based board solves three problems at once. It is light, so freight and install are cheaper. It goes up fast, because well-designed pieces slot together. And it answers the sustainability question that is now on most activation and retail briefs, because the board itself is made to be recycled with paper.
Re-board is a rigid paperboard made in Sweden. Its core is not honeycomb but an engineered fluted core set at an angle, which gives it a high strength-to-weight ratio and lets it be cut into almost any shape. The manufacturer describes it as 100% paper with water-based adhesives, recyclable in ordinary paper waste streams. It is commonly supplied in 10 mm and 16 mm thicknesses. You will see it written as Re-board or Reboard.
Honeycomb board has a paper honeycomb core between paper faces. It is the classic material for printed cardboard display stands, plinths and POS: light, rigid across a span, and paper-based throughout.
Xanita and similar products are recycled-fibre display boards used in the same way. The names differ, but the idea is the same: a rigid, printable board made from paper rather than plastic or timber. We will recommend the board that suits the build, the finish and the budget.

| POS and dump bins | In-store promotions and seasonal campaigns | Produced to the same spec for every store in a rollout |
| Photo props and cut-outs | Activations and events | Freestanding shapes with printed faces |
| Exhibition stand elements | Walls, counters and feature pieces | Pairs with exhibition stands |
Tell us what the piece has to hold, where it is going and how long it is up for. The structure is designed around that, not the other way round.
At Christmas that includes giant baubles, gift boxes and cut-out characters. See Christmas printing.
| Material | Weight | Strength | After the event | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honeycomb board / Re-board | Very light | Strong for its weight | Board designed for paper recycling | Short-run 3D builds, POS, activations |
| Foamboard | Very light | Flat panels only, dents easily | Polystyrene core, hard to recycle in practice | Flat panels and one-day signs |
| PVC / foamex | Light | Rigid in thicker sheets | Plastic | Panels that need to be wiped or reused |
| ACM | Heavier | Very rigid, long-lasting | Reused, or sent to metal and plastic recycling | Pieces that tour or stay up for years |
| Timber build | Heavy | Very strong | Usually landfill | Large permanent or heavy-duty structures |
Recyclability of the finished piece depends on the inks, laminates and fixings as well as the board. We specify finishes with that in mind and tell you honestly what can go in paper recycling afterwards. More on every board in the sign materials guide.
Re-board is a rigid paperboard made in Sweden, with an engineered fluted paper core between paper faces. It is very light, strong for its weight and cuts into almost any shape, so it is widely used for display stands, POS and exhibition and activation builds. It is also written as Reboard.
The board itself is paper-based and designed to go into paper recycling. The finished piece also depends on its inks, laminates and fixings, so we specify those with recycling in mind and tell you what can go in paper recycling afterwards.
Strong for its weight when the structure is designed for the load: counters, plinths, shelving and display stands carry product without trouble. It is not for standing on, and seating needs to be designed for the exact load from the start.
No. Paper board is for indoor and covered spaces. For outdoor activations, we build in ACM, PVC or fabric instead.
They are built for short-run use: the weeks or months of an activation, promotion or event season. Packed flat and handled carefully, pieces can be reused for a repeat run.
They are all rigid, paper-based display boards and the right one depends on the build, the finish and the budget. Tell us what the piece has to do and we will recommend the board.
