Our Core Capability

Large format printing, done under our own roof.

Banners, boards, posters, vinyl, fabric and display graphics, printed on our own roll and flatbed equipment at Ravenhall. No broker, no minimum, and a queue we control — which is what makes deadlines honest.

In short

Large format printing — also called wide format — is digital printing at signage scale: onto roll media like banner PVC, self-adhesive vinyl, posters and fabric, and directly onto rigid boards like corflute, foamboard, PVC and ACM. It is what we do all day. Every product on this site comes off the same in-house equipment at Ravenhall.

By Melbourne Trade Signs, a large-format print and signage company on Unit 6/43 Orbis Drive, Ravenhall VIC 3023, in Melbourne’s west. Printed in-house and installed Australia-wide. Phone 0415 743 691.

Plenty of businesses selling “large format printing in Melbourne” do not own a large format printer. They broker: your file goes to whoever is cheapest that week, a margin goes on top, and your deadline depends on a queue nobody you can call has ever seen. It works fine right up until the job is urgent, the colour drifts between reprints, or something arrives wrong and the finger-pointing starts.

We print in-house. That is not a slogan; it is the operating model that everything else on this site hangs off. It is why quotes come back in two business hours, why a rollout printed in March matches the reprint in September, why one banner is a welcome order rather than a nuisance, and why “can you hit Thursday” gets a straight answer — the machines are ours, so the schedule is too.

Capability

What comes off the machines.

Two kinds of printing cover the lot. Roll printing for anything flexible; flatbed printing straight onto the board for anything rigid.

Banners and mesh

PVC vinyl banners hemmed and eyeletted to any size, and printed mesh for fences and scaffold where the wind gets a vote.

Rigid boards

Direct-to-board printing on corflute, foamboard, PVC and ACM, cut to shape on the flatbed with eyelets, drilling and folding as the job needs.

Posters and paper

Poster printing from A3 to A0 and custom sizes on satin, matte, gloss and waterproof synthetic stocks.

Self-adhesive vinyl

Printed and cut vinyl for windows, walls, floors, vehicles and hoardings, laminated to suit the surface and the service life.

Fabric and display

Dye-sublimated fabric for media walls, flags, table covers and exhibition stands, printed and sewn for the hardware it stretches over.

Stickers and labels

Die-cut stickers and roll labels in any quantity — the small-format end of a large-format shop, run with the same colour management.

Who It's For

Built for people with deadlines.

When the deadline is today, not this week, we run a dedicated same day printing service — call before you panic.

Agencies and brand teams

The biggest slice of our work. Campaign and activation printing where the date was locked before the artwork was, across every media on this page at once. One supplier, one colour standard, one phone number, and production kitted by store or site — the full story is on our rollouts page.

Builders and trades

Site boards, site signage, hoarding graphics and safety signage, printed tough and turned around to suit the program. Compliance formats covered on the safety signs page.

Shops, venues and events

Everything a shopfront, festival or function needs, from permanent shopfront signage to event wayfinding kits that go up Friday and come down Sunday.

Anyone with one thing to print

No minimum order is policy, not marketing. One poster, one banner, one board: send it through. The one-banner customer this year is regularly the fitout customer next year, and we take the long view on that.

Getting It Printed

Artwork for large format, without the mystery.

The short version

  • Format — print-ready PDF preferred; AI, EPS or layered files welcome. A good big JPG will do for photographic work.
  • Size — build at final size, or at a clean scale (10 or 25 per cent) and tell us which.
  • Resolution — 100 to 150 dpi at final size covers almost everything; viewing distance does the rest. Do not chase 300 dpi on a banner.
  • Colour — CMYK for predictability. Give us the brand colour references and we will match them; that is precisely what in-house colour management is for.
  • Bleed — 5 mm on boards and posters; hems and pockets on banners need more, and we will tell you exactly what when we confirm the job.
  • Text and logos as vectors — they scale forever; screenshots do not.

If none of that is your job, skip it. Send the logo, the wording and a rough idea, and artwork setup happens here. You approve a proof before anything prints — every job, every time.

Questions

Large Format Printing FAQs.

What counts as large format printing?

Anything printed wider than an office printer can imagine: posters from A2 up, banners, self-adhesive vinyl, window and wall graphics, fabric for display systems, and direct-to-board printing on rigid sheets like corflute, foamboard, PVC and ACM.

The terms large format and wide format are used interchangeably. If it hangs on a wall, a fence, a window or a frame and needs to be read from metres away, it is large format.

What is the biggest thing you can print?

Bigger than one machine pass, because large work is designed in panels and joined — that is how building wraps, hoardings and media walls are produced everywhere.

Roll media runs continuously at print width, rigid boards run up to full sheet size such as 2400 × 1200 mm, and anything larger tiles across panels with the joins planned in the artwork. Tell us the finished size and we will engineer the panelling.

What resolution do large format files need?

Lower than people expect, because viewing distance does the work. Around 100 to 150 dpi at final size is ample for anything read at arm’s length or beyond, and grand-format work viewed from across a street runs happily at less.

Build artwork at full size or at a clean scale such as 25 per cent, keep logos and text as vectors, and use CMYK for predictable colour. A 300 dpi file at billboard size is just a bigger upload, not a better print.

Do you work with agencies and resellers?

Constantly — agencies and brand teams are the largest part of our work. Racing a campaign deadline, we answer the phone, tell you honestly what is achievable by the date, and produce in-house so the schedule is ours to control.

Artwork and specs stay on file, so the next campaign or the next store is a reorder, not a project.

Roll or rigid — what is the difference?

Roll printing puts ink on flexible media fed from a roll: banner PVC, self-adhesive vinyl, posters, mesh and fabric. The result is finished by hemming, laminating or cutting, and often mounted to something afterwards.

Flatbed printing puts ink straight onto the rigid sheet — corflute, foamboard, PVC, ACM, acrylic — so the board itself is the finished sign with no mounting step. Rigid suits signs; roll suits anything applied, hung or stretched.

How fast can you turn a job around?

Printing in-house means the queue is ours, so genuinely urgent jobs can jump it — that is a real advantage of dealing with the printer rather than a broker.

Straight print runs move fastest; jobs with sewing, fabrication or installation carry more steps. Tell us the drop-dead date first and we will tell you straight whether it is achievable rather than finding out together later.
