Guide · Cost

How much do business signs cost? What actually drives the price.

There is no honest single price for “a sign”. What there is: a clear order from cheapest to most expensive, a short list of things that move the price, and a way to get a real number for your job within two business hours.

The Short Answer

Signs, from cheapest to most expensive.

In short

Corflute signs start from $20 and ACM panel signs from $50. Beyond that, the type of sign drives the price far more than its size. Cut vinyl lettering and window graphics are the cheapest way to look established. Printed corflute, banners and ACM panels sit in the middle. Illuminated signs and built-up 3D lettering cost several times more, because they are fabricated, wired and installed rather than just printed. Installation, access and permits can add as much as the sign itself.

The Variables

What moves the price of a sign.

  1. What the sign is. Printed is cheaper than fabricated, and fabricated is cheaper than fabricated and lit.
  2. Material and how long it must last. Corflute for months, ACM for years. A cheaper sign you replace three times is not cheaper.
  3. Size, mostly in steps. Boards come in 2400 × 1200 mm sheets and banners in roll widths. Crossing one of those lines can add more cost than the extra size suggests.
  4. Quantity. Setup is a fixed cost, so the tenth identical sign costs much less each than the first.
  5. Artwork. Print-ready files cost nothing extra. Building artwork from a sketch takes time.
  6. Installation and access. A sign at head height takes minutes. The same sign above an awning on a main road may need a lift, traffic management and a permit to occupy the footpath.
  7. Permits. Illuminated signs, large signs and heritage areas can need a planning permit. See our sign permits explainer.
  8. Power. For illuminated signs, whether power is already at the sign location is one of the biggest swing factors.
  9. Deadline. Standard turnaround costs less than a job that has to jump the queue.
Vehicles

Vehicle signage and car wrap cost.

Vehicle signage spans the widest price range of anything we make, because the coverage does. Cut lettering and a printed decal set on the doors, tray and tailgate is applied in a few hours once the vinyl is produced, and covers most trade and service businesses. A partial wrap covers set sections, such as the rear half or the tray sides. A full wrap covers every painted panel in cast vinyl and takes days, because trim comes off and the vinyl is post-heated into every recess.

That labour is why a full wrap costs several times what lettering does. If the aim is to get calls rather than change the colour of the vehicle, lettering plus decals is usually the better spend. See vehicle signage and tradie signs.

Spending Less

How to get more sign for the money.

  • Spend in the right order. Glass and vehicle first, then the fascia, then the inside. The cheap items are the ones seen most.
  • Match the material to the time frame. Corflute and banners for anything temporary, ACM for anything staying put.
  • Use sizes that fit the material. Sizes that divide into a 2400 × 1200 mm sheet waste less board. See the sign sizes guide.
  • Order together. Signs installed in one visit share the travel and setup.
  • Plan for the lease. If you rent, your lease may require the sign removed and the facade made good at the end. Removable materials cost little up front and save money later.
  • Leave enough time. Standard turnaround is cheaper than urgent.
Getting a Real Number

How to get an accurate quote fast.

Apart from starting prices for corflute (from $20) and ACM (from $50), we quote the actual job rather than publish a price list that would be wrong for most enquiries. Quotes come back within two business hours. Send these and the number will be accurate the first time:

  • What it is and where it goes: a photo of the wall, window, fence or vehicle helps more than anything.
  • Rough size, or the space it has to fit.
  • Your artwork or logo, in whatever format you have.
  • Install or supply only, and how high or awkward the spot is.
  • The date you need it.

Questions

Signage Cost FAQs.

How much does a business sign cost?

Corflute signs start from $20 and ACM panel signs from $50. Beyond that, it depends far more on the type of sign than its size. Cut vinyl lettering and window graphics are the cheapest, printed corflute, banners and ACM panels sit in the middle, and illuminated or built-up 3D signs cost several times more because they are fabricated, wired and installed. Send a photo and rough size for a real number.

Do you publish prices?

We publish starting prices for the most common items: corflute signs from $20 and ACM panel signs from $50. Everything else depends so much on installation, access, permits and materials that we quote the actual job instead, within two business hours.

How much does a corflute sign cost?

Corflute signs start from $20. The final price depends on size, quantity, one or two printed sides, and fittings such as eyelets or stakes. Larger runs cost less per sign because setup is shared.

Is a car wrap more expensive than lettering?

Yes, usually several times more. A full wrap covers every painted panel in cast vinyl and takes days of labour with trim removal and post-heating. Lettering and a decal set is applied in hours and covers what most trade and service businesses need.

Does installation cost extra?

Installation is priced with the job, and it depends on height, access and timing. A sign at head height is quick. One above an awning on a busy road may need a lift, traffic management and a footpath permit.

Do I need a permit for a business sign?

Sometimes. In Victoria, Clause 52.05 of the planning scheme controls signs, and illuminated signs, large signs and heritage areas are the usual triggers. See our permits explainer and check with your council.

What is the cheapest way to make a business look established?

Cut vinyl lettering on the glass and the vehicle: your name, what you do and a phone number. It is the lowest-cost signage there is and it is seen by everyone who walks or drives past.
